Busy Hot Summer Days

Although the stock has departed to pastures new we are still working, we’ve had private birthday celebrations and historical picnics this week, far too hot to be outside but thank goodness the barn is relatively cool. The last remaining sheep are sheltering in the barn during the hot hours but the geese wander at liberty, stately as galleons they waltz across the lawn, vigorous guard dogs, they hiss and honk at all strangers, washing frequently in the filled buckets at the well. The bees are drinking lots of water and I’ve checked the supers, full and heavy with honey, how wonderful. We will be hosting a Honey Festival on
October 27, 2.00pm till 5.00pm, with honey for sale and honey cake for tea.

We are open for Sunday lunch this weekend 26 September, closed Sunday 2nd September, open Sunday 9 September and 16 September and 30 September, then closed till the Honey Festival. During which time I am hoping to be introduced to my two grandchildren due to be born around that time….
